Obama's Martinsville "Town Hall" Meeting
I thought it odd enough when local news announced that Obama's Town Hall Meeting here was by invitation only. I mean Martinsville's a little place, but we can handle some pretty large crowds. Or we have been known to twice a year.
But now I've heard, from three different people who are not strongly acquainted with one another, that a signed pledge of support for Obama is being required for attendance. Perhaps that's why the Obama campaign office continued to sign people up for a "waiting list" long after all the tickets were gone, in anticipation of those who refused to sign.
I'm still looking into this "pledge of support" thing and hope to be able to provide a copy of one soon.

From the Brady Campaign;
"Senator Biden has been a consistent supporter of the Brady Campaign," and "Senator Biden was a key player in the fight for the federal assault weapons ban that passed in 1994. He also worked hard for passage of the Brady Law (sic)."

Open Post...Unleash Your Progressive Thoughts
Use the comment section to describe a new, tougher gun law that would have prevented any of the school shootings in our country's history. Or. for that matter, any shooting involving victims in a "gun free zone", whether it be a school, airport, government building, courthouse, store or restaurant.
Use your liberal imagination. Unleash your progressive thoughts. We are all anxious to hear your ideas.
Just remember that we do have a Constitution, unless your suggestion is to amend portions of it. If that is your suggestion I require a valid, in depth argument for doing so. One that would persuade a sufficient number of citizens to go along with such an amendment. Facts matter, feelings and emotion won't cut it.
NOTE:
I do NOT moderate comments, keep them somewhat family friendly. My family, friends, church members, and co-workers do read this blog.

Many people have asked me why name the blog "I'm Not Emeril"? "Is it because you're a bad cook?" they ask. In a word, no. Between my second and third marriage (ahhh, don't even ask. I love women, what can I say), I was single for 14 years. I long ago graduated from Stouffer's macaroni and cheese and Denny's Grand Slam breakfasts and learned to cook for myself. I'm actually quite good at it, preferring Mexican and Italian style cuisine. I just don't consider myself a chef.
I cook more in the style of the Food Network's Anti-Emeril, the one who shares my first name. The science and chemistry of cooking fascinates me, as it does Mr. Brown. My original plan for this blog was to feature a favorite recipe once a week, but I don't generally follow directives very well. Not even my own. OK, how about it. Does anyone want a "recipe of the week" feature? Ask for it and you'll get it. Just don't command me to do it. And don't expect me to adhere to a rigid schedule of one a week.
