Military Helicopter Clips Power Line At Philpott Lake

According to Bill Wyatt at Martinsville Daily there was a minor incident near the lake yesterday.
Unfortunately he doesn't provide much detail.

UPDATE;
The Martinsville Bulletin has more.

Nobody was injured when a military helicopter cut a power line near Philpott Lake on Monday, but the incident apparently caused several electricity blinks across Henry County and Martinsville, according to officials.

A Navy PH-57 helicopter from Helicopter Training Squadron 8, based in Corpus Christi, Texas, severed a power line over the reservoir about 10 a.m., said Lt. j.g. Sean Robertson, a spokesman for the squadron.

The three Navy crew members on board the helicopter were taking part in navigational flight training, said Robertson, who did not have further details about the training.

He said the helicopter landed safely at Blue Ridge Airport a short time later. After landing, the crew members filed a report with the Virginia State Police, he said, adding that the incident is under investigation.

State police officials could not be reached Monday.
